So far, we’ve noticed Google Blog Search is much better at filtering the spam blogs, but that may change. We are using Akismet in our Comments area now, which has helped a ton — great suggestion from you and Seb!

I’m definitely excited to see the code of the feed grabber you developed – I’ve prototyped something similar using MagpieRSS to pull search result feeds and republish them, but yours sounds more complete. Are you running the results through Akismet’s API at all? That was my big concern when testing, many of the matches were from spam blogs which we clearly didn’t want to republish on our site…

I’ll also take a look at the php image manager, we could use something like that…
