Both Wilbour and William Henry Goodyear (Brooklyn Museum’s First Curator of Fine Arts)travelled extensively and documented what they saw in words and images. Check out Goodyear’s collection of images of Egypt:

You can search under his name under Collections in American Art and find several images. In addition to books and files on Blashfield, the Museum Library holds several of his diaries that contain wonderful sketches documenting the people and places he encountered during his travels in Egypt and Europe.

Those of us interested in classical architecture know Blashfield as one of the greatest muralists this country has produced. It’s fascinating to learn about Blashfield in an entirely different context: As a companion to Wilbour on these Nile excursions.

The Wilbour Library of Egyptology is probably the world’s greatest, premier library collection relating to ancient
Egypt. It is one of New York City’s greatest treasures. It was such a great honor for me to be invited to lecture there.
My lecture dealt with ancient Egyptian funerary, after-life beliefs and practices, and was illustrated from the thousands of 19th century Egyptological prints and photographs from the New York Public Library Website Digital Gallery, at http://www.nypl.org.
As Deirdre mentions, the Brooklyn Museum Library–Wilbour Library of Egyptology hold the greatest majority of these 19th century treasures of the then-developing field of Egyptological exploration, and many of them were displayed at the time of the lecture for the attendees to see and admire. Among others, Deirdre brought out a volume of Wilbour’s own personal set of Lepsius’ “Denkmaler” for examination. It was a very memorable day!
I want to encourage everyone who has interests in the field of Egyptology to get to know the riches of the Wilbour Library of Egyptology, to visit, and to experience the excellent and highly professional service that all visitors and library users will receive there.
