Yes, I know. And I’m an American citizen, but circumstances have me living very far from so many of the great collections. AND I need a lot of images for this project. So it is my hope that more museums, and more collectors, will put their images on-line.

Try the fashion resource center through the Museum of Costume, Bath, England. They may be of help.

Unfortunately I cannot use extant costumes. Nor can I use masquerade, ceremonial, or “classical draperies”. What I must use is FASHIONABLE dress only and at least 3/4 length. So if anyone has some ideas please let me kno

I’ve checked all the REALLY big museums but many of the smaller ones (outside NYC, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Los Angles) might have something really good – fashion plates, paintings, drawings, any image which is original to the time period is most welcome.

Mainly photos of objects, like: “Woman’s Robe a l’Anglaise” http://collectionsonline.lacma.org/mwebcgi/mweb.exe?request=image;hex=M57_24_5a-b.jpg

The NYPL and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts are both great on-line sources.

Can anyone recommend other sites I can use?
