We were seeing 2-3 months of battery life from them which was very disappointing. I’m also glad to see that your experiences of accuracy and detection has mirrored our beta testing. They are definitely not as plug and play as we first thought!

You might want to check out Dropin iBeacons as well (http://www.dropin.co.nz). They are an NZ based company who have a fairly attractive iBeacon coming out. These beacons have a few nice features such as AAA batteries for longer life and a really nice management platform.

And lastly iOS 8 is meant to be a lot better at its iBeacon support. Early versions of iOS7 were basically unusable.

Hi Pablo,

We are still in the early stages of iBeacon deployment. Success with beacons is so very specific to the interiors and placement. I certainly wouldn’t suggest its impossible. I do think its worth going into the project with an understanding that you may have to really massage the beacons a bit to get the results you are after!

I’m just starting a project similar to yours (iBeacons in a hotel) but my bigger fear is if this is possible to achieve because of the hotel layout (interference, signal strength, and of course, accuracy). Did you finally got an stable and accurate iBeacon ecosystem?
